Whether you want to add some culture to your life, or just have time to spare on a rainy day, a museum is the perfect place to go.
I recently visited the National Art Gallery in Ottawa and really enjoyed the art, as well as the architecture of the building itself. I wasn’t able to examine every room, because some are being renovated, but the ones I did see, I found interesting.
Here are some pictures I took while there…
This is the tunnel to the main hall. The high ceiling and the way light shines through the glass, casting shadows on the walkway, gives the impression of being in a space ship or passing through a portal.
Another futuristic shot of the ceiling. Remember to look up for a more immersive experience. Art is all around us!
Standing next to that glass pane made me nervous, but it looks cool! The mural is a bit of an optical illusion.
Christmas and New Year’s may be over, but this view still brings memories of the holiday season – colors, lights and Christmas trees! This is a picture of the Grand Hall of the Art Gallery from a balcony on the second floor. Everything was so bright!
I liked the arrangement and frames of the paintings. And the symmetry of these door ways.
Shadowy figures under a shadowy tree
Whale skeletons were arranged from plastic pieces and hung from the ceiling,
Overall, the National Art Gallery was a nice place to spend the evening and I hope to be able to go back and explore the rest of the museum, when I get the chance.
Thanks for reading!
